Cooking with love!

I love food. Growing up in the south raised by a grandmother whose love language was cooking for people, it makes sense why my comfort became food at an early age. I have adopted the same love language. I love cooking for people and I love having people appreciate what I cook.
i’m married since 2013, I have a 9 and a half year old and two cats. I’m a musician, crafter, business owner, die hard swiftie, gamer, ,and self-proclaimed geek. I am a Tennessee native living in Texas, but I have lived all over the US. I work in finance and have a swiftie crafting business. Visit Catastrophic Bluebonnets on Etsy for more information on that!
I’ve always been a big girl. I hated myself for the first part of my life, until when I was 30 I decided to take control of my life. (or so I thought). Weight Loss Surgery was gaining popularity, and at that point there were two standard surgeries that everyone was getting: RNY Gastric Bypass and Lap Band. I had over 250 pounds that I wanted to lose and was cautioned that the lap band was probably not the right fit for someone with that much to lose probably wouldn’t see that much success with the lap band, but because of funding, I opted to get it done anyway. I was moderately successful and lost around 75 pounds, However, I would end up having an adverse reaction and it would lie dormant for about fifteen years. It would end up causing more health problems than being beneficial. By the time 2025 rolled around, I was a Type 2 diabetic with random PVC’s and high cholesterol.
In February of 2025, I started a new journey. wIth major dental surgery that caused me to not be able to eat much. I lost some weight and used that opportunity to start a new journey with food. I found a >nutritionist on Nourish named Amanda, and saw a bariatric surgeon to get the Lap Band removed in June of 2025. Since the band was removed it has been an adjustment being able to eat anything anymore and dealing with increasing hunger, but That’s what this is for. I’m starting this as an outlet for my thoughts, hopes, frustrations, setbacks, and milestones.
I plan to share recipes that work (and maybe warn about some that don’t work) and document workout and activity tracking as well. I will be open, real and vulnerable, so please be kind.
